About The Royal

Built in 1937, The Royal Theater features a monumental Art Deco façade and remains a beloved community landmark. Like other Theaters across the country, The Royal was enormously popular when it opened.  Given the fact that it was, for a time, the largest movie theater this side of Columbus with 900 seats, it pulled in patrons from a wide area. The Royal remained open, serving the region until 1980 – a notable feat with the habit changing innovations of the ‘50’s, ‘60’s, and ‘70’s. A groundswell of community support brought the City Council around to making the commitment to the restoration of the Royal as an anchor for the further development of the historic downtown district.

Beginning with a significant grant from the Callaway Foundation in 2020, over $3 million has been raised to return the Royal to its former splendor. The Royal, operated and managed by the City of Hogansville will host numerous events every year including live performances of local, regional, and national artists and performers, classic films, concerts, special events, and educational programs.

Ticketing Terms of Use
The official policy of The Royal Theater is that there are no ticket refunds. Do not order tickets unless you are certain you want them. Before purchasing tickets, it is your responsibility to carefully review your seat location, event, and performance date. For questions, please get in touch with the Box Office at alexandrea.boyett@cityofhogansville.org or (678) 326-6221.

Royal Theater’s child ticket policy is that children under 3 are free for general-seating events. For reserved seating events, everybody needs a ticket — including infants and toddlers — to enter the theatre.

Some events may not be appropriate for children due to content, duration or atmosphere, and we leave discretion to the parent or guardian on attending. We encourage parents and guardians to research the theme and style of the artist or film in question by viewing publicly published examples (YouTube videos, Netflix specials, IMDB, etc.). If a tour or presenter restricts access based on age, that information will be listed on the applicable event page.

While Royal Theater regrets the inconvenience caused by these circumstances, we cannot be held responsible for any cost or damage such postponement or cancellation may incur. Refunds on tickets purchased are made for cancelled events only. In the event of a postponement, the event promoter is charged with making the final determination of refund availability.
